| Key Program Features Students will • Describe and identify interests, abilities, needs, goals, and expectations of others when planning their career. • Design their career action plan using the values of education and training that includes programs that meet their goals in high school and/or post-secondary. • Demonstrate skills in research and communication. • Conduct a thorough investigation of occupational fields. • Describe the contribution of a wide range of various occupations to society and predict the effect their career decisions may have upon significant others. • Describe how these self-characteristics may relate to requirements and satisfactions of preferred occupational fields and how they may affect the climate of the workplace. • Demonstrate an understanding of communication strategies, components, and how different factors can affect communication, interaction, and problem solving in career settings. • Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate language and communication skills in various career settings. • Demonstrate speaking skills, listening skills, feedback, problem-solving, group skills, and communication strategies in career settings. • Demonstrate skills such as conciliation, mediation, or negotiation for communicating in career settings.
